there are so many replicas of Venice and the grand canal all over the world. few of which were the Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau, China was one of the most prestigious hotel in Macau, the Venice of the North, known as the Dutch version in Amsterdam, Netherlands, theVenice of Las Vegas, the Venetian Resort, but as i said, nothing beats the original.
Venice is a city in the Northeastern Italy, the capital of the Veneto region. The Republic of Venice was known to be the major fiancial power during the Middle ages because it is an important centre of business due to glass, silk and spice.
Economy speaking, that of Venice has changed much thru history. during the renaissance and middle ages, it was Venice who is the centre of trade and commerce. but at present times, Venice' economy was mostly based on tourism. Murano glass production and Burano lace production are still very important when it comes to the city's economy status.
transportation: the pictures you see above were the Venetian Gondolas. this is used in the present times when you want to explore small canals in between buildings inside the city of venice. there were no wheeled vehicles found inside the city. all islands and buildings were connected by bridges, hence you can walk or ride thru these gondolas.
another mode of transportation were the taxi boats. these are much bigger than a gondola, it can hold up to 8 person excluding the driver. and it has a much modern style.
Venice is not only known for canals. walking inside the small city you can find the St. Mark's square known in Italy as, Piazza San Marco. it is the principal public square in Venice.
the city of Venice has its own charm, not even comparable to other cities of Italy. Each city has its own beauty worth exploring...
