Stack of Colorful Rocks: 7 Magic Mountains, Why do people come to visit?
"Seven Magic Mountains is an artwork of thresholds and crossings, of balanced marvels and excessive colors, of casting and gathering and the contrary air between the desert and the city lights" -Ugo Rondinone
What is Seven Magic Mountains?
Art Production Fund and Nevada Museum of Art present Seven Magic Mountains, a large-scale, site specific public artwork by artist Ugo Rondinone, the installation opened May 2016.
Mediating between geological formations and abstract compositions, Rondinone's Seven Magic Mountains consist of locally-sourced limestone boulders stacked vertically in groups ranging between three and six. Each stone boasts a different fluorescent color; each individual totem stands between thirty and thirty-five feet high.
The artwork extends Rondinone's long running interest in natural phenomena and their reformulation in art. Inspired by naturally occurring hoodoos and balancing rock formations, the stacks also evoke the art of mediative rock balancing. The works appear poised between momentarily and collapse- seeming to defy gravity in their teetering formations, but equally to depend on it.

***All of the above statement and descriptions were from Seven Magic Mountain information located at the Park itself at Jean in Clark County NV
It is easy to locate this place, coming from LA, just take the Highway 15 to Las Vegas then take the S. Las Vegas Blvd from Jean and you'll see this art installation along the way. Please take note that this place has no other facilities - no bathroom, no shade, no stores to buy bottled water. Don't forget to put sunscreen as well. There are enough parking spaces near the vicinity. For the busy-ness of the place, though there is nothing more aside to the art near the place, it's surprising to see a lot of people visiting. We went there at 5 in the afternoon, and there were lots of people. On another occasion, we visited at around noon, thinking there will be few people yet still, we were proven wrong.
If you are into art and scenery, be sure to check this place out! Now that I've seen it first hand, I now understand how refreshing it is to see something so huge and colorful in the midst of a desert scenery.
