Italy sightseeing without leaving America!
Where would you spot iconic Italian statues, structures and monuments without leaving the United States of America? Here you would find a compilation of all of those things explained!
Roman Colosseo
Of course, what we have in Vegas is a newer version. The original one in Rome, Italy was commissioned around A.D. 70-72 by Emperor Vasspasian and the one in Vegas opened March 25, 2003 which is highly inspired by the amphitheater in ancient Rome.
The Colosseum at Caesars Palace
Location: 3570 South Las Vegas Strip.
Owner: Caesars Entertainment Corporation
Spanish Steps
The original 1725 Rome Landmark can be found between Piazza di Spagna and Piazza Trinity dei Monti. It has 135 steps. In comparison to the Spanish steps in Caesars Palace, it resembles the outdoor market at atmosphere. It is an outdoor covered bar at Caesars Palace.
Trevi Fountain
Vegas not only recreated Venice and Paris but you can also spot the Trevi Fountain's twin! Funny that since i've watched "The Roman Holiday" and the 2010 movie "When in Rome?", I've been dreaming of going to the Trevi Fountain and it was a dream come true, when my parents and I had this trip to Italy last 2017! I even throw a coin wishing for something, since it is what it's known for. Here I was, not knowing there was something very similar that can be found in Vegas! And walking along Caesars Palace especially in the Forum shops, I stumbled upon the Trevi Fountain inspired replica!
The good thing with the Vegas twin is that there are fewer people, and almost no one pays attention to the fountain, unlike the original one in Rome where it is almost next to impossible to have a photo without photobombers! (Read more of Rome in Delving Rome: indelible encounter )
Venice Gondolas
Nothing beats the original! Who would not want to ride the gondola inside the city of Venice, and yet the one in Vegas looks purer, clearer and no canal smell! Read more about the real Venice in Italy in a separate post European Port thru Ancient Canals.
Piazza San Marco
St. Mark's Square in Las Vegas is almost like Piazza San Marco. It is a replica of what we can actually see in the actual city of Venice in Italy! I love the indoor St. Mark's square as there are lamp posts/ street lamps everywhere. It has a gorgeous ceiling painted with blue skies, making it incredibly easy to lose track of time even if it's already late at night!
Rialto Bridge
Rialto bridge is well-known for being one of the oldest of the four bridges spanning the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy. And similarly, the Rialto Bridge in the strip is one of the top attractions as it features the Italy themed design! In contrast, it is a bridge over roads and not canals in Venezia!
Doge's Palace
This palace in venice is built in Venetian Gothic Style and one of the major landmarks of the city. It was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the Venetian Republic. And I find it fascinating to locate this replica of Doge's Palace in Vegas, as seemingly detail-oriented as the actual one!
Piazza San Marco, Rialto Bridge, Grand Canal and Doge's Palace are located in The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd, South Las Vegas, Nevada.
Perhaps at this point, you can picture me smiling and fascinated every time I see a similar structure of what I had seen in Italy! And I can spot these fascinating landmarks the moment I see them! No more second guessing! My mind goes *ding ding ding!
Italy is one of my favorites among the countries I visited and I kid you not, I love Venice!
I would like to thank Las Vegas for bringing this small city closer to home. It is just a 4 hour drive away!
