Anawangin Cove: An Obscure Paradise

Exploring Philippines... <3 <3 <3

I've never heard of Anawangin cove until last March- May, plenty of advertisements were seen flooding my social media feeds. i browsed through the offers, glance through the pictures and said to myself, it is a short 2 day overnight trip, why not? the only question is, who's with me?

i am one of those unfortunate children who didn't have the opportunity to do outdoor activities as much as others. never had camping, even school activities. survival camp was never in my vocabulary. i didn't even know how to swim. and since i am asthmatic myself, i never had the chance to do a hiking trip. hence, this is quite an adventure for me.

i immediately phoned a friend, who is now a medical intern, whose only free time was on weekends. gladly she said yes. her only available time was during the weekends of July, which was also good making the place not overcrowded with beach lovers and people on summer getaways.

Booking was relatively easy, especially if from this copy bookwithusph.com and you don't have to pay the whole price, P500 non refundable deposit charge was the only requirement for booking.

Beware: No phone signal, and electricity more so a WIFI in the island

As we reached San Antonio, Zambales, we changed clothes to our swimming attire, since we will be having a boat ride from pundaquit beach to Capones Island.

the picture above was taken at the capones Island, technically we were the only people in the place.. so quiet and the mountain rock formation was superb. that was the only stop we had. next stop will be our own destination, the anawangin cove.

First activity: build your own tent.
since my friend, Gayle, right there knows how to pitch a tent, i have no problems.. but in case you didn't know how to, don't worry the boat men and other crew will be generous enough to help you.

every spot was definitely picture perfect! instagramable photo-- feels like i am looking through the postcard. and for the record, all above photos have no filter :) and we are using only an iPhone camera, no DSLR, no action cam

second activity: beach swimming

put that bikini on
walk though the white sand
dip on salty water
and hurray! bring it on!

well the water is not so salty.. it comes from the brackish water from the nearby river, that makes swimming a lot better! and because of the direct sunlight never forget to put sunblock! you might end up having roasted cheeks instead of rosy cheeks!

we have no problem dealing with our food, we avail of the additional P300 for food, we don't want the hassle of bringing groceries and goodies plus the main reason, i don't know how to make fire with woods! haha! the company provided 3 meals in generous amount. you will not definitely get hungry.

we don't have more activity for the remainder of the day, we should rest early, because the hiking trip was scheduled around 5:30 in the morning.

Third Activity: Trekking to Hill top

I was so thankful i brought my ipanema sandals with  me! i don't have hiking shoes, this kinda help me a bit. instead of using flip flops! well, for a beginner, i pride myself on reaching the hill top.

this video, technically was the view up there..
someone says:
"Nobody tells you its easy, but its definitely worth it"

the way up was not easy, i had some bruises and scratches from twigs but when i reached the top, all i can say, "Thank you Lord, you had made all things beautiful"
beautiful was really an understatement

this was the brackish water am telling you.. it was so clear that you can see clearly the stones and fishes underwater. while waiting for our boat ride, we just had the chance to walk around and glimpse at the place one more time.

well.. the trip was short but sweet. i was able to bond with my friend for 7 years now.. recently we don't have much luxury of time to see each other, due to the obligations our profession was asking from us.

we were advised to pack our things and be ready by 9 in the morning..
next activity: heading home..

there were no activities more than camping, swimming and trekking.. but an overnight stay away from the city was definitely a breather!
